How to Get There

Take Highway 101 North across the Golden Gate Bridge. Make a stop in picturesque Sausalito and enjoy the impressive skyline of San Francisco.
Get back on Highway 101 through Marin County. Take the Mill Valley/Highway 1/Stinson Beach Exit. Drive carefully, this road is winding! Follow the signs to Muir Woods and after about 15 minutes, you have reached your destination at the breathtaking Muir Woods National Park.
Parking at Muir Woods is free. Parking is located conveniently in front of the main entrance to the park. And nearby the park entrance are a café, gift shop, and restrooms. Keep in mind though that parking is very limited and during the summer time the parking lot gets full even in the morning.

A bike ride from San Francisco to Muir Woods is approximately 12 miles, and will take 1.5 hours to 2 hours to complete. This bike ride will be for the more athletic bicyclist, and includes steep inclines and hills. But if you are up to that challenge, the views and experience will be worth the exercise! Be sure to stop in Sausalito on your way to Muir Woods. Sausalito is a famous seaside village with a history of bohemian counter-culture, popular for bootleggers in the 1920s, hippies in the 1960s, and artists and celebrities today!
